There have been times in my life when I wondered if I would ever HEAR Him speak. If I’m being honest, those times were probably when I was too busy all up in my head, filled with worry, anxiety, emotions, life in general that I was searching for SOMETHING from Him!
GOD ARE YOU EVEN THERE? If you are, SAY SOMETHING! Like He owes me at least that, right?!? (WRONG!!!)
Truth be told, if I would just stop and listen I would be able to hear him. I don’t mean in an audible James Earl Jones voice bellowing from the Heavens, (tho that would be kinda cool), or in a burning bush like how Moses saw/heard Him..
It could be a song that comes across my play list that reaches me deep & shows me something about God that I had not thought of before. Time and time again, He speaks to me through music. So many lyrics of old hymns and other Christian music come straight out of scriptures.
It could be in the way that the wind blows across the field scattering the wheat seeds for the birds where He says to me,
“I care enough to feed the sparrows, imagine how much I care for you Heather!” (Matt. 6:26).
I can also ‘hear’ His voice in those moments when I can feel a sense of calmness sweep over me. He says, He will give me rest. Have you ever felt a hug or warmth come out of nowhere? I have.
Jesus is always speaking… I just need to do more listening.
How does He speak to you??
