GOD IS IN THE PARKING SPACE BUSINESS….

A few years ago, my sweet Momma and I had to make a ‘few’ trips to Baptist Hospital here in Memphis during her cancer treatment. To say parking can be a nightmare for the handicap anywhere at a hospital is an understatement. Mom uses a walker most of the time when she is out for any length of time so it’s important for us to get close enough to the door in the event that I can’t drop her at a patient drop off area. This particular building had proven to be a drop off nightmare.

That particular day, we were trekking to the Surgical Oncologist’s office, which is one of those areas where parking can be tough for the handicapped elderly. We were almost there & I prayed out loud, “God, PLEASE let there be a handicapped spot close to the door today & we will promise to give you the Praise & the Glory for it! Amen!” Mom gave a resounding “YES & AMEN!”.

Philippians 4:6 tells us,

“Be careful for nothing; but in EVERY THING by prayer & supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

Lo & behold, we rounded the bend & the Heavens declared the Glory of God & shone a ray of Sunshine upon a parking spot; not just any spot but one about 10 ft from the ramp/walk of the building.

We both hollered out, “Thank you LORD!” several times as we pulled into the spot He saved just for us.

“O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon His name: make known His deeds among the people. Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him: talk ye of all (ALL) His wondrous works.” Psalm 105:1-2

Now, some folks may think that praying for a parking spot is silly and that God is much too busy trying to keep this world in one piece to worry about 2 of His lil’ creations praying about a silly parking spot. You know what?? There is nothing too small or silly for God. Did you know that YOU are important enough that “even the very hairs of your head are all numbered”? (Luke 12:7)

Yup, so the next time you think something is too trivial to pray about, remember that what is important to you is also important to Him but don’t forget to give Him the Praise & Glory for it.

One other little thing…As we were walking to the car I heard, “Heyyyy mam! Are you leaving?” I hollered back, “Yes Mam!” Then she started frantically waving & hollering at another car, “Mam! Hey, there’s one over here!” We scurried & settled into the car quickly & backed out. Around the bend came another car with a tiny & seemingly frantic elderly woman driving it.

I don’t know if she prayed for a spot or not but we were very glad to pass on the blessing!
